Nurture your sound practice, grow your technical skills, and create without boundaries.
As sound creators we often think of our work in terms of what we do — whether that’s creating music, albums, podcasts, livestreams, performances, installations etc.…
On a deeper level though, we are involved in creating ourselves. We are creating a way of being nourishing doing work in a medium we love. We are creating processes that help us grow and learn. We are working with sound to creating meaningful and vivid experiences with the potential to transform peoples’ lives.
The problem that we often run into is that we get stuck. We get stuck for many reasons:
- It can be about the complexity around technology and our relationship to it.
- It can be the fear of starting, or releasing oneself into the world.
- It could be difficult experiences that come up in the course of our career that make us question what we are doing.
- Or the feeling of constantly coming back to similar challenges that hold us back from really feeling capable and happy doing this work.
Being stuck in a sound project doesn’t mean you are a ‘bad’ creator / artist etc.
Encountering resistance is a sign that you have way if working that doesn’t fit easily into business-as-usual. And when you get your voice out there… you’ll transform the world!

Getting stuck
When we get stuck, it doesn’t mean we are a bad at what we do. It means that we have a different way of doing things that’s actually very valuable. It’s doesn’t fit what is easy, or what might expected. But in essence, that’s one of the most valuable things a creative person could ever have.
The people who get stuck are the ones that have so much to offer. The resistance is tells us that something is working, and that there is actually a better way.
Those people who get stuck are the ones whose voices don't get broadcast 24/7 over the technical sphere. But if they did, life would change. People's experiences would change the way sound is mediated. We would expand the possibilities of what we're listening to, what we're feeling. So there's incredible creative potential there, and we're here to support that.
The way that we propose to do that is through our platform, Soundgarden.

Soundgarden is a learning platform dedicated to full-range technical and creative support for artists, musicians, composers, content creators, and everyday people. We offer 1-on-1 online learning sessions where we focus on ideas or sound projects that you are working on. We also offer group courses online to bring creators together.
The goal of these sessions is to support your technical and artistic growth and help you realize turn the process .
Soundgarden is a way of helping us to be in love and give love to the things we're working on every day and then feeling that return back to us. So we're feeling nourished, relaxed, sustained, inspired — at each step of the way.
We are creating a different engagement that is really about the experience of what it means to be a creator, while also fully supporting the development of technical skills and artistic capabilities.
Our fundamental goal is to help you feel capable with sound technology. Go from 5 years of slow learning, change this to a matter of months, and get to the work you are actually here to do.
We also are here to help build a sense of depth to your practice. Maybe you get to the same things — i.e. equalization, compression, mixing, and it feels like ‘wow there’s just so much more, and I don’t understand what I’m doing’
This isn't just ‘getting by.’ We begin by asking — How do we create the foundations for success? How do we shape artistic-technical process, so that we're really at the level that we're dreaming of, and working in a way that is right for us?
// could create this into a punch out
The idea is that we accompany your artistic practice. We like the idea of accompaniment, not teaching, because we are just saying, ‘okay, what is your process? What do you love? How can we support you? And what technical skills do you need right now?’
We’re not teaching you how to sound like a ‘professional’ or a ‘famous artist.’ A lot of people just give you instructions on how to be like them. In Soundgardening, we're following you, not prescribing and we are finding together out what is your voice? What's working, What's not working?

And so there's this one on one aspect that we've been offering over the last five years, and we continue to offer that.
This fall we're going to be also generating a group dynamic. A few months where we're working together, going through a certain certain stages of feeling and learning through the creative process.
Building a basis of the artistic process and being nourished by people who are going through the exact same thing — learning from each other, going through the same challenges and feeling supported.
We're really excited about this new way because as a group we can support each other. We're not often surrounded by people who believe and can see what we're trying to do before we've actually done it. We need to create an environment where where everyone's there — on a similar page, in different paths, but we're learning and we're supporting each other. And we just believe in that amazing potential.
We'll put this onto an online platform that you can access through this concept of sound garden as a garden space online. Resources, more things that can really basic skills like how to learn Ableton, how to learn microphones, just like kind of like the 101.
- Basic resources in videos, texts, some also sounds, even sounds you could play with.

We zoom out and consider the artistic process in terms of cycles and seasons. It's not all happening at once, but we know that if we plant this seed, we're going to see it all the way through and we're going to have the skills to get to get through each of those resistances that can come up.
How do we build work habits? How do we build ways of working with sound that are in our body?
And we feel better everytime we do it? We can see technical practice as nourishing us, not taking energy away.
